For awhile now, I’ve been telling myself, “I’m going to start a podcast.” And it’s something that’s easy to say, and it’s easy to comment on others’ work like this and say “Hey, I could do that.” But the difference is, I didn’t, and they had the motivation and courage to put themselves out there, and I sat back and said “I’ll do it. Soon.” All while knowing that if I didn’t set a date to have it done by, and actually set aside time to work on it, it was never going to happen. And this was beyond frustrating. It felt like an open-ended proposition rather than a goal. So I did something about it.
I set aside my day today (yes the entire day) to just work and come up with ideas for my podcast, and told myself I wouldn’t get up until I was done. And it took me 3-4 hours of writing down ideas, coming up with a title for the podcast, recording and re-recording. But guess what? It’s done (at least the first episode). And maybe I won’t be able to do this every week, but I’ll try to make it a somewhat-regular thing, and continue on with it, just like this website, because I can. And that way, I can reference things in the podcast and write about them here, and vice versa. It’s a project I’m really excited about, and happy that I’ve made that first step of progress.
